A Quick Momentum Play

We have a powerful breakout happening in shares of Suntech Power Holdings (STP – NYSE) and I’d like to make a quick momentum play on a run back up to the near-term high of $40.00.

STP

Suntech Power develops photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules primarily in China — but their solar technology has been gaining acceptance in cities around the world. It’s quite amazing to fathom — but in just 1 hour the sun delivers more energy than the world uses in a whole year. This fact alone highlights the enormous potential of STP’s photovoltaic (PV) cells on a worldwide scale. But aside from being implemented in cities, STP is also receiving demand for military applications as well. To me, the beginning of spring & summer in the U.S. combined with a 50 day MA breakout could push STP back up to $40, so let’s make a quick momentum play right now!

PLAY: Buy the STP June 40 Calls (STP FH) at or under $1.45, good for the day. Current bid/ask spread is $1.30 to $1.35. Place a protective stop loss at $0.70.
