After locking in profits on our TBT calls, I’d like to follow up by adding a new upside call play on Agrium (AGU – NYSE). As you can see from the chart below, the agricultural nutrient and fertilizer company is on the verge of an upside breakout. And considering the major market reversal that we witnessed at the close of yesterday’s trading (where a 230-point loss on the Dow was completely wiped off the board), there’s evidence that the bulls might be stronger than I have expected. Therefore, let’s get positioned to ride any further upside using AGU March calls.

At the same time, I have a sneaky suspicion that gold prices are about to go through a mini-correction. As you can see from the gold chart below, the yellow metal has made a very impressive upside run (which we capitalized on using AEM calls).
But now, as the stimulus package is getting set to be approved, this could spark a gold sell-off that pushes prices back down to the crossing of the 50-day and the 200-day moving averages around $850 per ounce. As a result, I’d like to add a downside put on Newmont Mining (NEM – NYSE).
